      Marcialonga – Italy’s Legendary Long-Distance Ski Race

Marcialonga is one of Europe’s most iconic cross-country ski races, held annually in the stunning valleys of Trentino, Northern Italy.

First organized in 1971, this long-distance classic-style race stretches over 70 kilometers, weaving its way through picturesque alpine villages and the dramatic Dolomites landscape.

More than just a competition, Marcialonga is a celebration of endurance, tradition, and community.

Athletes from all over the world – from elite skiers to passionate amateurs – gather in late January to take on the challenge, cheered on by enthusiastic locals lining the snowy course.

The route, starting in Moena and finishing in Cavalese, is famous not only for its breathtaking scenery but also for the final, grueling uphill climb known as the “Cascata.”

Marcialonga is part of the Vasaloppet and Visma Ski Classics series, placing it among the top international long-distance ski events. Beyond the main race, the Marcialonga organization hosts several other events throughout the year, including Marcialonga Cycling and Marcialonga Running, making it a year-round symbol of active lifestyle and sporting excellence.

Whether you’re racing, supporting, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Marcialonga is a true winter adventure – where history meets heart and snow meets soul.
